Project #255
Craftsmen in the Integrous woodshop designed this expansive custom pergola, which was installed at a beautiful property just east of our headquarters in Gap, PA.
Towering at 13′ tall and covering a 20′ x 42′ footprint, careful planning was dedicated not only to the unique look but also to the structural sureness of this pergola. Inside the posts and beams are aluminum tubes wrapped in cedar boards and separated with a foam spacer to allow for seasonal wood movement. The internal tubes allowed an electrician to add access points and run wiring through the metal, and the double-sided tongue and groove panels below the lattice hide an electrical junction box and are removable from the back side.
In addition to the lattice features, the alternative sets of top slats and rafters create an artful pattern that stands out from a typical pergola. This client’s vision was an open aesthetic, which the large spacing between slats and rafters and the tall height achieve in tandem.
