Types of Bollards

Material Options

Bollards are constructed with a Schedule 20, 40, or 80 steel pipe of varying widths, and most are filled with concrete for additional strength. After selecting the appropriate thickness of the pipe for your needs, you can also select the most fitting visual appearance. Some common options include:

Galvanized (unfinished) steel with a concrete dome top
Powder-coated steel with a painted concrete dome top
Removable bollard cover with option for two bands of colored tap

Crash-Rated Bollards

Most bollards designed for security are set in concrete underground to create a permanent barrier. You can upgrade to crash-rated bollards, which are engineered and tested to stop vehicles of certain sizes at certain speeds.

Removable Bollards

For flexibility, you can opt for a removable bollard. In this configuration, a bollard snugly slides into a steel pipe sleeve buried underground–and then it can be removed when it’s not needed.
